Heather is pictured in the logo at the top. I loved the way she looked right at me when this picture was taken.
She's a little over 6 months in that photo.

You know they are spoiled when you give up half your computer table because she just has to get near you.

Parker joins the fun. Ahhhh that lamp feels good.

I have had dogs all my life. My first dog was a puppy from the pound. A little mixed terrier with a crooked tail. I had her from the time I was in second grade until after my daughter was born. Prissy really was my "sister". She grew up with me, shared all my days, the good and bad. She was there for me and my family as long as she could be. She taught me to love a dog and how much they are capable of loving their people. We lost her to a very ripe old age. That was my first lesson in letting something you love go. It was very hard...but I wouldn't have missed the "dance".

After choosing a breed, any breed, you want the correct information that goes with it. Begin with the AKC (www.akc.org) to find the National Parent Club that goes with the breed you choose. That would be the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (www.ytca.org) in our case. There you will find people who do their best to educate on the breed and abide by a code of ethics.

Whatever breed you choose, there are many interests available to dog enthusiasts these days. Whether you enjoy confirmation, agility, rally, or just a walk around the block, remember the most important thing is the relationship with your dog that will last. Make the most of it, for that time will pass so quickly. When your pet is gone the relationship you had with it, is what you will remember when you look back. Make memories that will make you smile when you are old. When you can't remember what you had for dinner yesterday, you'll remember a special look, a special moment shared, a special time with your cherished pet.
